My research interests center on plant-environment interactions and their applications to prairie and woodland restoration and to sustainable and resilient urban and agricultural systems. Plant-soil interactions are an important focus, and I am particularly interested in the context-dependency of plant-soil feedbacks and their role in plant invasions. The theory and practice of sustainable and resilient coupled human-natural systems is another key area of focus. I collaborate with Urban Green Infrastructure (UGI) Working Group colleagues and urban stakeholders to advance the science and practice of integrating green infrastructure with human social and built infrastructure.
